Vari's Legacy

A special session of talks and posters will honor Richard Vari’s legacy by highlighting his outstanding scientific achievements, dedicated mentorship and exceptional service to the Neotropical Ichthyology community. A number of Neotropical Ichthyology (number 3 of volume 17, 2018) will be dedicated to the Symposium papers and will include contributions presented in the Vari's Legacy session. At this point, the available travel funding for participants in Vari’s Legacy has been exhausted. Slots for oral and poster presentations are still potentially available to participants who can cover their own travel expenses. Please contact Brian Sidlauskas (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if interested in one of these slots, and provide the title of your proposed contribution; a short explanation of how the presentation or poster connects to and honors Richard Vari, and whether you prefer a poster or oral presentation. Please note that emailing Brian does not replace the need to also submit your abstract and register through the conference website.

Fish Collections

A special poster session will be dedicated to Fish Collections holding Neotropical specimens. The aim of this session is to divulge the fish collections and their specimens, but also to discuss. Papers summarizing information of Fish Collections will be published in a special number of the Boletim Sociedade Brasileira de Ictiologia (number 128, 2018, ISSN 1808-1436), with papers on each fish collections authored by its own curator(s). Submissions for the special number of the Boletim SBI will be opened from July 31, 2017 to December 31, 2017. Papers should be submitted to This email address is being protected from spambots.
